ABOUT MECIC…The Middle East Cultural and Information Center (MECIC) is an independent, non-partisan educational and cultural organization seeking to promote understanding of Middle Eastern Issues in general, and the Palestinian issue in particular. Formed initially in 1989 to support the Intifadah and the Palestinian people in their historic struggle for self-determination and statehood, MECIC has continued its activities through the Gulf War of 1991, the Al Aqsa Intifadah, and the present tragedy in Iraq.

Israeli records confirm theft of land

JERUSALEM, Nov. 20 — An Israeli advocacy group, using maps and figures leaked from inside the government, says that 39 percent of the land held by Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank is privately owned by Palestinians.
